Reintroduction: Preliminary procedures in Ogliastra
10 Février 2014
Between December and February have been concluded the preliminary captures.
This captures are important because you can control the health status of the animals before the release in order to facilitate the recolonization. Health checks conducted are: taking of a blood sample and parasitological tests: this is strictly necessary in cases (like this) when the population is moved in other places or before the release.
The animals are branded in each ear and four of them (2 males and 2 females) wear a radio collar in order to monitoring their position.
Captures are made with tele-anesthesia (narcotic syringes are shot by special airguns) in the fence of Silana (Urzulei, Ogliastra, Sardinia).
