Translocation and creation of new population

The 21st of February 2014 fifteen specimens living in the fence of Sa Porticra (Urzulei) were released. They will create (5 females and 10 males) with other specimens coming from the area of the Province of Medio Campidano, the future population of the Supramonte in the Province of Ogliastra. The deer were released in the area of  the Gulf of  Orosei, a Site of Community Importance (SCI).

The 23rd of February a herd of 6 specimens (5 females and 1 male) were captured in the forestry yard of Croccorigas (Guspini) and moved to the fence of Sa Porticra (Urzulei) and they were released in the following days. The animals were captured with tele-anesthesia and identified through ear brands. Each deer get a blood test and six of them wear a radio collar.
