Captures and biometric analysis before releases

On 12th December has been concluded capture procedure on fence Sa Portiscra (comune di Urzulei, Sardinia).

This animal fence realized in 2003 according an agreement between the Municipality of Urzulei and Ente Foreste della Sardegna: at the beginning there lived 3 specimens (2 females) coming from  State Forest “Settefratelli” (Sardinia); now there lived 28 deers.

Capture procedures are conducted by Ente Foreste della Sardegna’s veterinary.

This captures are important because you can control the health status of the animals before the release in order to facilitate the  recolonization. Health checks conducted are : taking of a blood sample  and  parasitological tests.
