News about "wildlife management" from the SardegnaForeste.it website.
The activity carried out by the Ente Foreste includes farming systems, reintroduction, census, care and wild animals' recovery. The aim of the farming is the reproduction of the Sardinian Partridge (Alectoris barbara) and of the Sardinian hare (Lepus capensis mediterraneus) to conserve and sell the certified breeding. The reintroduction is a delicate operation, inserted in a management context wider than the liberation one, and it must consider several factors that may influence the success of the operation. Other operations include the control of the populations through periodic censuses.
The recovery activities of the injured animals is carried out in centres specialised in medical and surgical treatments, place for study and research on control and monitoring of the main diseases.
The Centres of Farming and Recovery of the Wildlife (C.A.R.F.S.) cooperate with the Universities, the National Institute of the Wildlife and the Regional Institute of the Wildlife.
